What your plate registration insurance covers
SGI insures all vehicles and drivers licensed in Saskatchewan, but the coverage only provides the minimum protection required by law. Read more about the basic auto damage insurance on the SGI website.
A premium package can add liability protection; family security coverage, which protects you and your family if you are injured by an uninsured or underinsured driver; a lower deductible (the amount you must pay before your insurance takes over and pays the remaining costs); and increased injury benefits. Some insurers also offer a multi-vehicle discount.
Driver’s licence renewal
You need a new photo for your driver’s licence every five years. You can have your photo taken at McCabe Insurance Services at no cost. Non-drivers can get a photo ID card for a $15 fee.
If you lose or damage your photo ID, there is a $15 charge to have it replaced. If you would like a new photo for the replacement, it will cost $30.
Licence renewal can be paid as five annual payments of $25, for a total of $125 over the five-year period, or you can pay for the entire five years up-front for a discounted price of $100.
